SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER

We are currently looking for a Senior Quality Engineer for the Motor Shop of a large manufacturing facility in Longview.


Responsibilities include: 

Develop, create, revise and maintain appropriate quality documentation including procedures, work instructions, manufacturing process plans and inspection & test plans to support manufacturing and assembly of equipment.  Create documentation to serve as objective evidence of completed work.

Perform internal process, work station, and safety audits; work with Quality Control Supervisors and other departmental staff to improve the strength of the quality system in the manufacturing operations.

Monitor the cost of quality monthly. Complete a comparison analysis to plan and report on variances.

Partner with quality control and manufacturing to ensure adequate measuring systems are in place to provide for verification and validation of products.

Perform non-conformance and root cause analysis as a member of a cross-functional team, Including continuous improvement activity and Kaizen events.

Complete corrective action investigations for all non-conformance issues determined to be repetitive or of significant risk, as determined by the Quality Manager or Sr. Quality Manager.  Work cross-functionally to institute containment actions, short-term and long-term resolutions that prevent reoccurrence.

Serve as the liaison between quality and operations management; advise and act as subject matter expert to manufacturing leaders and support staff. Partner with Manufacturing engineers on engineering changes and customer support including Juhin process.

Lead FMEA component quality planning sessions, first article criteria and fit checks associated with electronics, electrical assembly and electric motor manufacturing.

Participate in meetings including; daily management meetings, material review board meetings, and change control board meetings.

Provide support to electrical assembly, electronics and motor shop to ensure controlling processes are established, validated and maintained including equipment qualification and maintenance to ensure compliance with design requirements.


Requirements & Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience - Preferred Bachelor's in electrical engineering (4 years of experience with electrical assembly or more is preferred), bachelor's degree or technical discipline with associates degree plus a minimum of 10 years of job experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical Quality engineering (QE), Quality Management System management or development, supplier quality engineering (SQE), quality auditing, cost of quality management, production quality support, quality training, inspection & test management/planning.  Alternatively, certification by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).


Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Ability - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.


Quality Management & Leadership - Understand the philosophies and foundations of quality, its leadership principles and techniques, and proven communication skills.


Quality Management System - Understand development of the quality management system (QMS) including, its design and documentation, standards and guidelines, quality training and auditing, and the cost of quality (COQ).


Design of electrical products; processes, and services - Understand classification of characteristics, verification and validation, and reliability and maintainability.  Including, the ability to review and understand drawings/blueprints and have familiarity with measuring systems.


Product & Process Control - Ability to apply critical skills required to implement effective product and process control, including acceptance sampling, material control, metrology, and measurement system analysis.


Quantitative Tools and Techniques - Ability to apply quantitative tools and techniques that drive continuous improvement, from lean and corrective action to kaizen and Six Sigma.


Data Analysis - Ability to summarize data, draw statistical conclusions, analyze distributions, test hypotheses, perform capability studies, and design and execute experiments.


Risk Management - Be fluent in risk management: its oversight, assessment, control, auditing, and testing.
